I feel privileged and honoured to be a part of this strong and vibrant school community. The St Francis Xavier community pursues excellence in teaching and learning, nurturing the social and emotional needs of students and supporting them to develop into confident and resilient individuals.

Our History
Ashbury parish was established in 1929 by Fr Edward McMahon who asked the Ursuline Sisters to start a school. Led by Mother Veronica Purcell, St Francis Xavier Primary School Ashbury began on 4 February 1930. First-day numbers are unknown, however, by 1931, 191 students were enrolled. Our patron saint, Saint Francis Xavier, was a missionary priest who travelled by boat on many sea voyages preaching to and evangelising others. He made good friends with St Ignatius Loyola and helped to found the Jesuit order.
In 2020, our school will participate in celebrating 90 years of Catholic education.
Our Charism
St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Primary School continues in the spirit and values of the Ursuline Order, founded by St Angela Merici. Our school has a strong tradition of service, social justice, and spirituality in the community. Our Ursuline charism informs our academic excellence, leadership, and openness to change.
We continue to modernise our classrooms to provide the best learning environments to meet the needs of all students. And we are proud to stand by our school motto, ‘Serviam: I will Serve.’ This motto inspires us as we are called to the service of God and others.
Our Mission
At St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School Ashbury we strive to honour the traditions of St Francis Xavier and the charism of our Ursuline heritage which encourages us to have a strong sense of community spirit while making a positive difference in our world. We promote Gospel values in a safe and challenging learning environment that inspires every child to empower one another to reach their full potential.
Our Vision
