On Wednesday, 9 August 2023, St Francis Xavier hosted the Ashfield Public Speaking finals. Nine schools from the Ashfield Network each chose one student from Stage Two and one student from Stage Three to complete against other schools.
In preparation for their speech, SFX students were required to write their speech in the correct structure and to source information from a variety of domains. They practiced the skills of appropriate and expressive tone of voice and volume, effective eye contact and minimal relying on notes.
Adjudicators awarded three trophies, in which one was presented to a SFX student in Year 4. Our student placed Third place speaking about the topic “Actions Speak Louder than Words”. Well done!
